You may be wondering, is this for me and what exactly is a solo anyway? If so, let’s take a moment and define what a solo entrepreneur really is, so you’ll know who I work with and if what I do is a good fit for you and your small business.
Very simply, a solo is a one man or one woman small business owner.
As a solo…
- You are your small business and your small business is you.
- You are the business and you are the brand.
- Clients are buying you and your knowledge and expertise.
- You are the main force behind your business.
- You are the one running the show and calling the shots.
- If you go away, your business goes away.
You’re the one doing the work for your clients…
And while you may have an assistant, or a freelancer who helps you, you don’t have a large staff of employees to manage. You work with clients one-on-one, either face to face or virtually via email or by phone. Your clients can be just around the corner or half way around the world.
You provide various services to your clients, and for the most part, the “product” you sell is your knowledge and expertise in your field and what you do for clients. Clients are “buying” you (and your knowledge and expertise) when they choose to work with you.
You may be a life coach, business coach, consultant, author, speaker, trainer, therapist, writer, designer, architect, contractor, attorney, accountant, real estate agent, mortgage broker, travel agent, chiropractor, dentist, doctor, massage therapist, photographer or another type of service based business professional.
You may have heard yourself referred to as a “solo-prenuer”, “solo-professional”, “independent professional” or “micro business” but, no matter the name a solo is a one man or one woman small business owner.
A BIG problem MANY solos struggle with…
Being a solo is fantastic. But, there are a few very big problems that many solo really struggle with. One problem is being so busy working with clients that you don’t have time to market your services and attract new clients consistently.
This is the dilemma of not being able to be in two places at once. After all, if you’re working with your clients…how can you be out there marketing yourself? And if you’re out there marketing yourself…how can you fulfill all of the work you need to do for your clients?
Are any of the following true for you?
You love what you do, but you really dislike marketing your services. You’d rather “just do what you do” and leave the marketing to someone else (or at the very least you’d be happy to “do” marketing if you just knew exactly what to do and what really works to get you results).
You’ve tried marketing your services in the past, but the results were lackluster. Despite being great at what you do, and knowing that you can help many people achieve their wants, needs, desires and goals…getting those people interested in working with you and becoming your clients has been very difficult. Most, and in some cases all of the marketing you have done in the past has generated little or no response.
You really struggle with having enough time to market your solo small business. Being a solo is fantastic. But, one big problem with being a “one man or one woman show” is being so busy working with clients that you don’t have time to market your services and attract new clients consistently. It’s a dilemma of not being able to be in two places at once. After all, if you’re working with your clients…how can you be out there marketing yourself? And if you’re out there marketing yourself…how can you fulfill all of the work you need to do for your clients? The results of this is “marketing in spurts” which doesn’t do much to attract clients consistently.
Despite working hard in your business and generating great results for your clients, your income is way below what you want. You may be frustrated with how much you feel like you can charge for your services. You many want to increase your fees, but are not sure how to do so and you don’t want to offend your current clients.
You have a very successful solo small business, but you want to do better and get to the next level. You realize that although you’ve been successful in attracting clients, you want and desire much more. You want to learn new approaches and new strategies for marketing that will take you to a whole new level of success.
You have come to the place where you know you need help to get the results you desire. You know and understand, that even though you’re a solo, you cannot and should not do everything by yourself. You’re ready to finally stop struggling with the marketing for your solo small business and get the help, support and solutions you need to build the business of your dreams.
